River of Bees

High in the misty forests of Oaxaca’s Sierra Sur, the smallholder producers of San Vicente Yogondoy grow the Pluma cultivar beneath a dense canopy of native shade. The community’s Zapotec name means “River of Bees,” a nod to the bees kept throughout the region for honey, pollination, and the continued health of this living landscape.

The farms are steep and remote, so ripe coffee cherries travel by foot and mule before processing. That journey naturally extends the time between harvest and depulping, creating a gentle fermentation that brings added depth and vibrancy while preserving the coffee’s delicate, easy drinking character.

Grown at 1,500 to 1,700 meters by the producers of San Vicente Yogondoy, this is a sweet, lively expression of Pluma and a beautiful reflection of Oaxaca.
